Meet Marisa Moosekian, LMFT

Change begins when you feel truly seen.

Marisa Moosekian, LMFT

I’m here to help you heal old wounds and trust yourself again.

Hi, I’m Marisa Moosekian, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder of Mysa Psychotherapy. I work with parentified adults, anxious achievers, and highly sensitive people (HSP) who feel stuck in old survival patterns—like perfectionism, people-pleasing, or self-doubt. You may look like you have it together but often feel anxious, disconnected, or unsure of who you really are.

Together, we’ll help you slow down, untangle those patterns, and build a new relationship with yourself—one rooted in calm, compassion, and confidence.

What Is a Parentified Adult?

A parentified adult is someone who had to grow up too soon — caring for others (often parents or caregivers) before being cared for themselves. You might have become the peacekeeper or “responsible one,” often at the cost of your own needs.

In adulthood, this can look like over-functioning, anxiety, or trouble feeling safe in relationships. Therapy helps you release those roles and learn to care for yourself with the same empathy you’ve always given others.

Specialty:

I specialize in working with anxious, high-achieving adults—often those who grew up feeling responsible for others’ emotions.

Common themes include:

  • Anxiety

  • Perfectionism

  • Relationship challenges

  • People-pleasing & codependency

  • Self doubt

  • Difficulty setting boundaries

  • Low self-worth or self-criticism

  • Healing from emotionally immature or unpredictable parents

My style

I believe that you carry immense wisdom within you — therapy simply helps you access it.

My work is holistic and trauma-informed, blending warmth and curiosity with evidence-based methods. I believe that healing happens when we feel seen, safe, and understood — not when we try harder to “fix” ourselves.

In therapy, we’ll slow down and explore the patterns that shaped you. Using approaches like Internal Family Systems (IFS), the Gottman Method, EMDR, mindfulness, somatic awareness, and attachment-based work, we’ll help you connect with the parts of yourself that have longed to be heard and healed.

You can expect our sessions to blend insight with integration—understanding why certain patterns exist and learning how to meet them with compassion, rather than criticism. Together, we’ll help you move from self-doubt to self-trust, from anxiety to inner steadiness, and from survival mode to authentic connection.

Therapy with me isn’t about becoming someone new—it’s about remembering who you’ve always been.
